How to make a dedicated server in Garry's Mod (Gmod)? Explanation I'm very new.?

I really do not know how to start a server mod Dedicated Garry's. I want to start a RP server (BTW you can give me an explanation of how to deploy this particular type of server). I will start the server PC from my father at work, he said I could use for my games too. Does that mean that I can be admin of this server? I am very confused. Please help.

I'm not very subject matter expert, so my answer may be very incomplete. Generally, you pay a company to host a server for you. The amount you pay per month, usually dictated the number of slots allows the reader. If you have a server, you will have access to all the privileges of players (kick, ban players, etc.).
