Machine to use for headless Ubuntu?

Hello, my main computer is a Windows machine, but would like to buy a machine Headless Can I install Ubuntu and run as a dedicated server. I want to be able to connect via SSH to a wireless network. The performance is very important. Only will be more for personal sites and no trade. Any suggestions for using cheap hardware for this project would be greatly appreciated!
